Dear Babykins,
This is a little love letter to you.
I had such a wonderful day with you; playing on a blanket on the grass, watching you try, try and try again to force an entire plastic donut into your mouth (despite the fact that the donut is nearly as big as your head - but perseverance is a trait I strongly admire), watching big kids skateboard and swim in the ocean, watching very big and very low airplanes fly overhead and loving your utter awe and amazement at these things of wonder (see above photo). Every time you would hear a plane you looked up and searched the the sky until it finally came into view. You watched intently until it was behind the trees and you could resume your play.
I loved keeping the sun off of you while you napped and how you slept with your limbs splayed wide and your hat pulled down over your face, just like an experienced beach-goer. You were wonderful company while I read (your insights on General Custer’s motivations were really thought provoking). I loved feeding you applesauce on my lap and listening to your exclamations of excitement over the grass and the blanket and your plastic boats.
I would never wish sickness on your Grammy but I have to admit that I’m a little glad that her bout of bronchitis gave you and I an excuse to spend the day together (sorry Grammy!)
Love always,
Your Mommy
