One of my oldest and very dearest friends, Melissa, is a social worker in Iowa (once upon a time I was a Midwesterner too!) and sent out an email a little while ago to raise money for the Stride for Foster Care, a walk that she and her wonderful husband, Ron, will be doing TOMORROW! As you can see immediacy is of the utmost importance as donations must be made by TOMORROW!
I’ve been meaning to post this for a week but didn’t realize the fundraiser was coming up so soon! So apologies for the lack of notice. I pledged $25 to support Melissa and Ron and they are only $50 away from their goal! Every dollar helps and, as I firmly believe, there is no such thing as a donation that is too small (unless it’s zero)! Melissa does great (and hard) work every day - this is such a small thing to support her and the foster children of Iowa who need our love and support so much.
Here is Melissa’s official plea…
Friends and Family,
On May 1st, Ron and I will be walking in the Stride for Foster Care Walk. The walk raises money for the Iowa Foster and Adoptive Parents Association. IFAPA assists many of the foster children with whom I work. The funds are used to help with fees for school, sports, and other extracurricular activities. They also provide training and liaisons to assist prospective and new foster parents in caring for the children in their home.
I am including a link to my fundraising page if you are interested in donating. If you would like to donate, but prefer not to do so online, please let me know as i am able to take pledges via cash or check as well. Anything that you can donate is greatly appreciated! Ron and I also welcome happy thoughts for a great turnout and warm weather on May 1st!
Thanks so much for your help,
Melissa
