Ahhh paint by number collection how I wish you adorned my happy home’s walls!
I have loved paint by numbers (already completed and preferably vintage) since I encountered, and immediately began lusting after, the greatest paint by number I’ve ever seen - The Last Supper. I found the aforementioned beauty while working at the Strawberry Banke Historic Museum in Portsmouth, NH, where I interpreted history and the stories of the region, day in and day out, to any and all willing to listen.
One of the houses represented the 1950’s and I loved working in that house because I got to watch old Superman episodes all day and admire the paint by number. If it were not for the fact that I deeply respect the sanctity of any and all museums I might (possibly) have seriously entertained visions of stuffing it under my shirt and scurrying home.
Last summer I saw the same paint by number in my friend’s mother’s house and after visibly frightening her with my overzealous enthusiasm she finally told me that she had found it in the trash! Thwarted yet again… And then there were the large dog paint by numbers that called to me from the local goodwill’s front windows but were already spoken for… One day you shall be mine o great phenomenon of the art world!
